San Luis Obispo—The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team concludes its Central Coast road swing on Saturday, January 25 with a 4 pm PT tip at league-leading Cal Poly. The Mustangs currently sit atop the Big West standings with a 4-1 mark.
UC Riverside dropped to 0-5 in conference action following a 74-61 loss at UC Santa Barbara on Thursday in which the Highlanders could not recover from a cold spell midway through the second period (box score/recap). UC Riverside has scored above 60 points in all five of its Big West games, but gives up an average of 79.4 points per game.
Brittany Crain ran her double-digit streak to 26 straight games after scoring 19 at UCSB. On the season the sophomore averages 19.7 ppg to lead the conference.
Cal Poly began the year with three straight losses, but recovered and have since posted a 10-5 mark. Three of the Mustangs league victories, however, have been by five points or less.
The reigning Big West player of the Year, Molly Schlemer, leads CP averaging 18.2 points per game and 10.9 rebounds a game. Ariana Elegado is the second-leading scorer at 16.6 ppg, while Jonae Ervin rounds out the trio with 12.9.
The Highlanders own the all-time record against Cal Poly, 32-30, but have dropped the last four straight (view all-time results).
