Men's Tennis Drops BWC Opener At UC Davis In Rain Delayed Match
2/9/2014 8:28:00 AM | Men's Tennis
Davis, CA - The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team opened up the Big West Conference portion of its schedule Saturday at UC Davis. Rain delayed the match and forced it indoors, where the Aggies came away with the 6-1 win, despite the Highlanders earning the doubles point.
UCR's number one doubles duo of Cooper Bridge and Michael Carella won 8-6 against Adamson/Levine, while Jack Felich and Calvin Ngo claimed an 8-7 (5) win at number two to give the Highlanders the doubles point.
In singles, however, the Aggies earned straight set wins in the first four flights, while the fifth and sixth matches went to tiebreakers. UC Davis won each of the close contests to best UC Riverside in the 6-1 victory.
"The guys were really psyched up for a win today," Head Coach Tim Downey stated. "Though we are building for the future, I am extremely proud of the effort these guys are giving."
The Highlanders remain in Northern California to face Saint Mary's at 10 am PT on Sunday.
