Vilaubi Finishes Fifth As Women's Golf Jumps Up One Spot To Conclude BWC Championship

San Luis Obispo, CA - The UC Riverside Women's Golf Team lowered its score in each of the three rounds of the Big West Conference Championship, finishing with a 933 on Tuesday to move up one spot into sixth place out of eight teams to conclude the event.
UCR was in seventh place following a round one score of 316, and remained in seventh with a second-day 310, but jumped up one spot to finish the championship firing a 307 in the third round. The Highlanders were only two shots away from fifth-place Cal Poly, and beat Cal State Fullerton and Hawai'i by nine and 20 strokes respectively.
UC Davis won its fifth-straight title coming in with a total score of 895, 16 shots ahead of second-place Cal State Northridge (911). Long Beach State finished in third at 922 followed by UC Irvine in fourth at 923.
UC Riverside's Savannah Vilaubi vaulted into fifth overall following a third-round score of 70. She shot 75-76 in the other two rounds for a three-day total of 221.
Brittani Ferraro was the Highlanders second highest finisher tying for 22nd with 237 (78-80-790, while Yuri Ahn was one stroke back at 238 (81-79-78) to tie for 24th.
Isabelle Shee carded a 240 (82-78-80) to tie for 28th place while Haley Wian finished 30th with 82-77-82 (241).
The individual championship title came down to a playoff between Cal State Northridge's Clariss Guce and Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg, who found themselves knotted at the top with a three-round score of 217. Edberg went on to win the one-hole playoff to capture the school's first individual title and break the four-year dominance by UC Davis.
