Riverside— The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team is gearing up for its second game of a two-game homestand this Saturday, as the Highlanders host Cal Poly beginning at 5 pm PT.

UC Riverside is coming off an 89-74 win over UC Santa Barbara Thursday evevning. Brittany Crain led the Highlanders with 29 points against the Gauchos, 15 of which came from behind the arc.

That performance extended her program Division I era record of consecutive double-digit scoring efforts to 28 straight games. Crain leads the Big West with 23.9 points per game scoring average which is also the fifth highest average in the nation as of January 21.

After missing four straight game with an injury, Annelise Ito has averaged 14.6 points in her first three games back. Against UCSB she scored a season-high 21 points, and led the team with six assists.

Also contributing to the Highlanders' scoring efforts was Michelle Curry, who netted a career-high 19 points, and just missed out on a double-double by grabbing a game-high nine rebounds.

At 11-8 overall, UC Riverside is still off to its best start since the 1997-98 season when the Highlanders won 13 of their first 19 games.
Cal Poly looks to improve its conference standing as they have only dropped one Big West game, losing to front-running Long Beach State, 85-74.

The Mustangs are led by the fourth leading scorer in the conference, Ariana Elegado, who is averaging 15.4 points per game, thanks in part to a 37.6 percent effort from three-point range, and 79.3 percent from the charity stripe. No other member of the team is averaging in double figures.

The Highlanders and the Mustangs are knotted 32-32 in their series following Cal Poly's 83-72 victory over UC Riverside on February 22 of last year.
