Volleyball Hangs Tough At Long Beach State, But Falls, 3-0

Box Score Long Beach, CA—Fabiana Rosas recorded a match-high 13 kills, but the UC Riverside Volleyball Team dropped a 3-0 decision at Long Beach State Tuesday evening.

The Highlanders (6-11, 1-3) trailed by just one, 20-19, in the first set, but a pair of Mykah Wilson kills helped the 49ers score five of the final six points in the set to go up, 1-0.

The second set played out almost identically as UC Riverside led midway throughout, but once again found itself trailing 20-19. This time it was a pair of kills by Peyton Grahovac that helped Long Beach State score five of the final six points, to win, 25-20.

The 49ers took control of the third and final set in the early going as a 5-0 run turned a 4-3 advantage into a 9-3 lead. The Highlanders would never get closer than five the rest of the way as Long Beach State closed out the straight set victory.

Chelsea Doyle paced UCR with 23 assists, while Maddie Hubbell led all participants with 15 digs.

The Highlanders remain on the road this week as they travel to UC Irvine for a 7 pm PT, Saturday meeting with the Anteaters.
