Box Score Eugene, OR—The Highlanders made a run in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit, but all five Oregon starters scored in double figures, while they outrebounded UCR 55-31 on their way to the 95-81 victory.
Rejane Verin and Brittany Crain carried the scoring load for the Highlanders in the first half with 14 and 12 points respectively.
The Ducks hit seven three pointers in the first two quarters, four of them were by Lexi Bando, who finished with 12 points at the break. Bando was joined in double figures by Jillian Alleyne with 12 points, and Maite Carzola's 10.
Oregon led UCR 51-36 at halftime.
The third period saw the Ducks increase their lead to 25 points at 72-47 with just 2:06 left in the period, but the Highlanders responded with nine straight points.
Threes from Akilah Martin and Clemence Lefebvre, along with an old fashioned 3-point play by Crain, cut the Oregon margin to 16 and UCR would enter the fourth trailing 72-56.
Midway through the fourth period the Ducks had exploited their offensive rebounding advantage to push their lead to 21. They grabbed seven offensive rebounds in the quarter that helped to slow down the UCR comeback.
The Highlanders (5-5) would outscore the Ducks 20-10 to get the score to 92-81 with 1:09 to play. In the run Verin had 7 points and Lefebrve knocked down a pair of threes, but UCR would not score again and Oregon would hold on to win 95-81.
Oregon (9-0) was led by Alleyne's 25-point, 17-rebound double double—her ninth of the season. Bando connected on 5-of-9 from three point land to finish with 17 points, Carzola had 15, Jacinta Vandenberg 11, and Lexi Petersen 10 to round out the five players in double figures.
Crain pulled down eight rebounds and Verin dished out eight assists, as they finished with 21 points each. Lefebrve hit a season-high five threes to finish with 17 points for the Highlanders.
