Riverside— The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team travels to Cal Poly Saturday, Feb. 21 in its second of two road games this week. The Highlanders rank fifth in the conference sitting in a four-way tie with LBSU, CSUN, and Cal Poly. Tip is slated for 4 pm PT.

UC Riverside returns to the court after topping to UC Santa Barbara in a tight battle, 71-65. The fourth leading scorer in the nation, Brittany Crain, led the offensive effort for the Highlanders with 24 points. She extends her Division I-era record of consecutive double-digit scoring efforts to 35-straight games. Crain leads the Big West with a 23.5 scoring average.

Annelise Ito netted 19 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. She has taken over as the sixth leading scorer in the conference, averaging 13.3 points per game.

After missing almost the whole month of January, Simone DeCoud has averaged 10.2 points per game since her return, putting up nine on the Gauchos.

At 16-10 overall, UC Riverside is off to its best start since the 2008-09 season when the Highlanders won 17 of their first 26 games.

Cal Poly heads into Saturday still looking to take eliminate one the Highlanders as a contender for the fifth spot in the conference. The Mustangs are coming off of a 74-60 loss to Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.

Cal Poly's leading scorer, Ashley Elegado, ranks fifth in the conference in scoring, averaging 14.2 points per game. Kristen Ale is the only other Mustang to average double-digit points at 10.0 per game.

The Highlanders took over the lead in the overall series 33-32 with a win in the most recent meeting, 82-78 on Jan. 24 earliers this year.
