Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Cross Country Team finished in ninth place out of 23 squads Saturday in the 35th Annual UC Riverside Invitational at the Agricultural Operations Course. Cody Jordan placed third in the 8k meet, setting a new personal record with a time of 24:07.8, 11 seconds faster than his previous best.

Jordan finished 21 seconds behind the winner, Central Arizona's Gilbert Kigen, who won the 8k event in 23:46.3.
Southern Utah won the team event with four runners in the top-10, while UC Santa Barbara came in second. Cal Poly Pomona earned a third place finish while UC Davis and Long Beach State came in fourth and fifith, respectively to round out the top five teams.
Finishing second for the Highlanders was Aaron Nguyen, placing 37th overall with a time of 25:20.7. Solomon Demeku-Ousman came in 50th at 25:32.4, while Garrett Hernandez placed 61st with a 25:48.5
Other finishers for UC Riverside include Carlos Lopez (103rd in 26:37.2), Douglas Castro (129th in 27:23.6), and Ryan Klachko (138th in 28:16.4).
The Highlanders now have two weeks to prepare for their next event, the Stanford Invitational, scheduled for Saturday, September 26 in Palo Alto, CA.
