Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis team begins the 2016 season with a match at the SRC Tennis Center on Saturday, January 16 versus Nevada at 11 am PT.
 
Sunday, they will travel to Rancho Mirage to face San Diego State in a 1 pm match.
 
The Highlanders return eight players from last year's team, and welcome newcomers Anderson Ju and Kyle McCann.
 
Also new to the team is Head Coach Mattias Johansson, who had a stellar 20 year career at Vanguard University before joining the UCR family. Assisting Coach Johansson this season will be Volunteer Coach, Bobby Robles.
 
On this weekend's opening matches, "This is an opportunity to evaluate our players while in competition. We work hard in practice, but now its time to show what we've got", said Coach Johansson.
