Lewiston, ID—Lewiston, ID—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis team picked up its first win of the season, 4-3, in a battle with NAIA #20 Lewis-Clark State College.
The team match was tied 3-3 entering the deciding match between UCR's Calvin Ngo and LCSC's Alexandre D'Abdville. D'Abdville took the first set 6-1, and appeared to be on his way taking control of the second, when Ngo fought back to claim the second, 6-3, to force a third set to decide the team match.
Early in the third set, Ngo trailed 5-3 and was on the brink of defeat. He then responded by winning four straight games to claim the third set, singles match and the deciding match to give the Highlanders their first win of the season.
"It's nice to have our first win come against a solid team. Guys were digging down deep, having played 11 hours of tennis today. I'm so proud of the guys, especially Calvin for turning it around in that final set", said Coach Johansson.

The UC Riverside Men's Tennis team fell in the morning match against the Idaho Vandals, 7-0.
The doubles team of Hans Baumstark and Jack Felich prevailed, 6-4, in No. 3 doubles play over Idaho's Coutinho and Fonseca.
For Baumstark, it was his second doubles victory on the season, bringing his record to even at 2-2. Felich recorded his first win of the 2016 campaign, leveling his doubles record to 1-1.
