Davis, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team suffered a 4-0 defeat at UC Davis Sunday afternoon, effectively ending the Highlanders' chances at a third trip to the conference tournament in the last four years.
The Aggies outshot the Highlanders 10-3 in the first period, scoring on four of those shots to take a 4-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. Three of those scores came within a span of two minutes and 47 seconds as Davis scored in the 16th, 18th and 19th minutes of play. Rachel Ahr was responsible for two of those goals, while Nicole Bouvia added a goal and an assist.
The play was even in the second half with UC Davis edging the Highlanders 4-3 in shots, as the deficit proved too great for UC Riverside to overcome.
Laura Perjanik got her first career start in goal for UC Riverside and finished with seven saves.
The Highlanders three remaining matches are at home beginning with a Friday, October 21 meeting with UC Santa Barbara at 7 pm PT.
