Men's Tennis Loses 5-2 To Liberty, Snapping Four Match Winning Streak

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team was defeated by Liberty Thursday afternoon, 5-2. The loss brought their record to 8-9 on the season and snapped their four match winning streak.

The Highlanders failed to take a doubles match against the Flames. Sean Yun prevailed in the no. 2 singles match in straight sets over Alex Poynter, 6-4, 6-3. Calvin Ngo picked up his first win since returning to the lineup in a straight sets decision over Eddie Gutierrez, 6-4, 6-1 in no. 4 singles.

"We had a good performance as a team in singles, and I feel like we could of taken a few more matches, but Liberty played well down the sttetch and deserved to win", said Head Coach Mattias Johansson.

The Highlanders finished their eight-match home stand with a 6-2 record, next they'll face Loyola Marymount at 1 pm on Friday, and return home Sunday to face UConn in the SRC Tennis Center at 10 am.
