Men's Tennis Drops Big West Opener To UC Irvine, 5-2 In Hawai'i

Honolulu,HI—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team (10-10, 0-1) dropped their Big West opening match to UC Irvine (11-5, 1-0), 5-2 Thursday.

The Highlanders failed to take a doubles match against the Anteaters, as the first two matches completed went in favor of UC Irvine, leaving the third unfinished.

Calvin Ngo earned a three-set victory, 3-6, 7-5, 10-5 in line five singles. Anderson Ju won in straight sets in line six singles, 6-2, 6-2.


"UCI is probably the best team we've faced so far, but I do feel pretty good about how we played in today's matches", said Head Coach Mattias Johansson.

UC Irvine defeated Hawai'i, 6-1, Thursday morning, before knocking off UCR in the afternoon.


The Highlanders will continue Big West competition Friday, when they take on Hawai'i (1-10, 0-2) at 1 pm PT.
