Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team will host Division III #3 ranked Middlebury Thursday at 1pm, then they will head to UC Davis for a Big West match-up on Saturday, April 2 at noon.
The Highlanders are coming off a record setting, 4-2, victory at Hawai'i Friday. The win broke the record of 10 wins in a season during the Big West era set by the 2006-07 team.
With four matches remaining on the year before the Big West Championships, UCR has already doubled the total number of singles matches won with a 56-58 mark this season compared to 28-75 through all of last season.
Kyle McCann's 13 singles victories, primarily in the no. 3 spot, lead the team, while Anderson Ju has 12 wins in lines five and six.
Hans Baumstark is 12-5 in doubles matches, having been partnered with Jack Felich, Sean Robles and Ju.
Middlebury (Vermont) is 5-0 on the season and will take on the Highlanders after stops at Biola University and Pomona-Pitzer on their spring break trip.
The Panthers trip also included matches versus UCR common opponents Concordia (W, 8-1), and against Lewis-Clark State College of Idaho (W, 9-0) in a neutral site setting in Whittier.
UC Riverside was also victorious against Concordia (
7-0) and Lewis-Clark State College (
4-3) earlier in the season.
#69 UC Davis (14-3, 1-0) has won 11 straight matches and is currently second in the Big West.
The Aggies have picked up wins over #33 Pepperdine and #72 Pacific this season. They also defeated Hawai'i, 6-1, in conference play in a match played in early February.
In last year's mid-April meeting the Highlanders were swept, 7-0, by UC Davis.
