Women's Tennis Heads Up The Coast For Big West Matches At Cal Poly And UC Santa Barbara

Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team returns to actions this week with a pair of Big West road matches. Saturday, April 2 they'll play at Cal Poly at 11 am and Sunday, at UC Santa Barbara, also slated for 11 am.
 
Chloe Pham leads UCR (3-10, 0-4) with six wins, five in dual competition, at the no. 1 spot in singles play.
 
Tamila Vaksman is 5-1 in dual matches this season playing mostly in line six matches, and Karla Dulay has four dual match victories to her credit at lines two and three.
 
At 17-28 in doubles so far this season, the Highlanders have already eclipsed their win total from last season, when they finished 16-63 in doubles competition.
 
Sophomores Dulay and Vaksman have seven victories, which lead the team—Natalie Penner and Tracy Van have five. Last season the top win total by any combination of players in doubles was four.
 
Cal Poly (2-10, 0-3) has lost six straight matches and is also still searching for its first victory in conference.
 
The Mustangs defeated the Highlanders in two consecutive meetings last season. The first was in the final match of the regular season, 4-0 and the second was less than a week later in the first round of the Big West Tournament, also 4-0.
 
#69 UC Santa Barbara (9-6, 2-0) enters the week as the highest rated Big West School according the Oracle/ITA rankings.
 
The Gauchos also feature the #11 ranked doubles team of Paulina Dubavets and Stefani Stojic.
 
In last year's match-up UCR was blanked, 7-0, at the SRC Tennis Center.
