Men's Tennis Closes Out Big West Play With Home Matches Against #73 Cal Poly And #47 UC Santa Barbara

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team will closeout Big West regular season play this week with a pair of home matches. Friday April 8th, they'll welcome Cal Poly at 1 pm, and Sunday UC Santa Barbara will visit the SRC Tennis Center in a noon matchup.
 
The Highlanders are coming off a, 7-0, loss at UC Davis Saturday. Last Thursday, they extended their UCR Division I record for wins in a season with a, 5-2, over visiting Middlebury—giving them 12 on the season.
 
Kyle McCann leads the team with 14 singles victories, primarily in the no. 3 spot. Anderson Ju has 12 wins on the 2016 campaign at lines five and six. Senior Hans Baumstark is 13-7 in doubles matches, with playing partners Jack Felich, Sean Robles and Ju.
 
#73 Cal Poly is 9-8 on the year and 1-0 in conference play after sweeping Hawai'i last week, 7-0. The Mustangs have not traveled for a match since February 21, when they were blanked, 7-0, at SMU. In the eight home matches since, they are 6-2 , falling to #49 Denver and #64 Boise State.

Afte battling the Highlanders they Mustangs head over Irvine to face the Anteaters. UC Riverside was defeated, 4-0, in last year's matchup in San Luis Obispo.

#47 UC Santa Barbara (12-6, 2-0) has won three straight matches and is one of three unbeatens in conference play. The Gauchos feature the #45 ranked doubles tandem of Nathan Eshmade and Miles Seemann, who are 11-4 on the season.

Saturday, they will face UNLV at home in a makeup match before traveling down the coast to face the UC Riverside. In last season's meeting UC Santa Barbara prevailed at home 6-1.
