Riverside—On Saturday, January 21, the Highlanders do battle with the #10 ranked USC Trojans in their first away match of the season at 10 am inside Marks Stadium. 
           
UCR played a double header Wednesday which was moved up two days to avoid rain. The Highlanders picked up their first win of the season against Hope International 7-0.

UC Riverside took the first two doubles matches early on, and proceeded to sweep all five singles matches played surrendering no more than two games in any set played. UC Riverside heads into the weekend at 1-2 on the 2017 season.

USC finished 2016 with an overall record of 17-7, and went 5-2 I conference play, good enough for second place in the Pac-12. They have four players in the ITA/Oracle rankings led by freshman Brandon Holt at no. 20, as well as the no. 35 and 49 ranked doubles tandems.

The Trojans picked a victory in their first match of the 2017 season against UC Santa Cruz, 6-1. UCR is 0-2 all-time against Southern Cal falling, 7-0 in 2014,and 6-1 in their last meeting in 2015.
