Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated In Big West Play With 1-0 Shutout At Cal Poly

San Luis Obispo, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team (5-7-2, 2-0-0) remained undefeated in Big West play Sunday, picking up a 1-0 road win over Cal Poly (5-7-1, 0-2-0)

GAME NOTES
The Highlanders are 4-0-1 in their last five conference matches dating back to last season.

The last time UC Riverside began Big West play with wins in its first two matches was in 2013. That was the same year the Highlanders advanced to the Big West Championship Game and came within a goal of making their second trip to the NCAA Tournament.

The win over the Mustangs gives the Highlanders three straight road wins—at CSU Bakersfield, 3-1; at UC Santa Barbara, 4-1; and at Cal Poly, 1-0. The only other time in the program's history that UC Riverside strung together three consecutive road victories was in the 2006 season when they beat Air Force, 2-0, on August 27; #22 Fresno State, 1-0, on September 22; and San Jose State, 2-1 on September 24. During that 2006 streak, UC Riverside also won two neutral site matches— vs. Buffalo, 4-1 and San Diego State, 1-0 at UC Irvine.

Miah Conde was credited with the first assist of her collegiate career on Darielle O'Brien's second-half score.

Darielle O'Brien now has two goals on the season, and is tied for second on the team in that category. She also has seven points on the season, which is the second highest total on the squad.

The Highlanders improved to 5-8-4 all-time against the Mustangs. Four of those wins have come at Cal Poly.

This weekend's wins over UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly mark the first time in program history that the Highlanders have beaten both teams on the road in the same year. The Gauchos were predicted to finish third in the league this year by league coaches, and the Mustangs were picked sixth. UC Riverside was picked eighth.

The shutout was goalkeeper Annie Bailey's second of her career. The first came in her collegiate debut at Akron on September 11, 2016 (box score/recap).
