Volleyball Celebrates Senior Night With 3-0 Sweep Of Visiting UC Santa Barbara

Riverside, CA—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team (10-17, 2-13) celebrated Senior Night Saturday by picking up the Highlanders' second conference win of the season in a 3-0 sweep over visiting UC Santa Barbara (8-19, 7-8). Seniors Brooke Callahan, Meg Graham and Fabiana Rosas were honored in ceremonies following the match.

SET ONE (25-20, UCR)
Key Runs: The Highlanders trailed 6-4, but scored 14 of the next 16 points to take control of the first set.

SET TWO (25-18, UCR)
Key Runs: UC Santa Barbara led 8-6, but the Highlanders scored 10 of the next 11 points on their way to a two-sets-to-none lead.

SET THREE (25-20, UCR)
Key Runs: UC Riverside trailed 7-6, but scored the next three points, and nine of the next 12 to take a lead they would never relinquish.

GAME NOTES
Mickayla Sherman recorded 19 kills in the match, which is the most for a three-set match for the highlanders this season, and the most since Amanda Vialpando picked up 19 against CSU Bakersfield on September 16, 2011. The program's Division I-era record is 21 accomplished two times by Jamie DeKiewiet on September 11, 2004 against Akron, and September 2, 2005 vs. Southern Illinois.

Sherman now has nine double-digit kill efforts on the season.

Brooke Callahan recorded double digit kills (13) for the 10th time this season.

Morgan Kline was credited with a career-high 35 assists in the match. It is her second straight match with 30-plus assists.

UC Riverside picked up its 10th win of the season, marking the second time in three years that they have reached the 10-win plateau.

The Highlanders have now won four of the last five matches against UC Santa Barbara after going 2-39-2 in their first 43 matches against the Gauchos.
