Women's Tennis Stays Hot, Knocks Off Valparaiso 5-2 For Third Straight Victoty Of The Week

Riverside–The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team picked up its third straight win this week on Saturday, 5-2 over Valparaiso.
The Highlanders dropped the point doubles after losses in the line 1 & 2 matches early on. UCR responded by taking five of the singles matches to prevail on the SRC Tennis courts.
Karla Dulay and Tracy Van both outlasted their opponents in three-setters. Dulay battled back from being down a set to triumph, 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 in no. 1 singles.
Van rallied to take the final set 6-3 in her line three singles match after she and Meg Modesto split the first two frames with each winning by a score of 6-3.
Sara Khattab, Lauren Wolfe and Tamilla Vaksman all notched straight sets victories in positions 2, 4 and 5 respectively in helping to secure the win over the Crusaders.
"The team had to fight really hard for this one, I'm proud of all of them." said Head Coach Mark Henry.
The three match winning streak is the first by the team since the 2010-11 season.
Van, a sophomore from Garden Grove, CA, went 6-0 this week (3-0 singles, 3-0 doubles) for the blue and gold.
UC Riverside returns to the SRC Tennis courts Tuesday at 1:30 pm against Marquette.
