Riverside, CA–The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team knocked off Hope International Wednesday morning, 6-1, to set a new Division I program record of with their 14th win of the season.

The Highlanders took two of three double matches to claim the match's first point. Nabil Abdallah and Anderson Ju linked up for the clinching win in line two doubles 6-2.

In singles play UCR won the first five matches to finish, all in straight sets highlighted by Ju's blanking of Andres Rivas , 6-0, 6-0 at the no. 6 position. Hope Inernationa l fell to 3-13 with the loss.

The 2016 Highlanders shattered the existing DI mark of 10 wins last season with 13 victories.

In the afternoon, UCR hosted UC Irvine in the Highlanders' first Big West match of the season. The Anteaters prevailed by 5-2 on the SRC Courts in moving their record to 7-13, 1-1.

Abdallah snagged a point for the blue and gold via a straight sets win against Mason Hansen in line four singles, 7-6, 6-3. Gilbert Chung ran his winning streak to 10 matches outlasting Vatsal Bajpal 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 in no. 6 singles.
