4/24/2017 5:16:00 PM | Women's Golf
Riverside–After 36 holes of play in the Big West Championship, Jakeishya Le is second and the UC Riverside Women's Golf Team is in sole possession of third. (Day 2 Results)
Le carded five birdies in her second round. However, double-bogeys at the 10th, which she birdied in round one, and the par 4 17th pushed her round two tally to 73.
The Highlanders will enter the final 18 holes of the tournament 12 shots back of front-running Cal Poly at +11 for the championship.
In the last year's final round, UCR faced a three-shot deficit, before over taking the Mustangs to win the program's first title by four shots.
Holes 16-18 have plagued the Highlanders at Oak Quarry Golf Club, as they have played final stretch at +16 as a team, +8 each day.
Senior Paris Griffith is one of two UC Riverside players to have a round without a bogey on the final three holes. She was error free in rounds one and two, and Julia Sander in round one.
Griffith had a two-under par round going before making a triple bogey on the par 5 14th. She finished with four pars on her way to posting a one-over 73.
Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg fired a four-under 68 in posting the round of the tournament, and claiming the outright lead at -5, four strokes ahead of Le.
UCR will be in the final group of pairings at 9:00 am tomorrow along UC Davis and Cal Poly. (Final round pairings)
