Santa Barbara–The UC Riverside Softball Team fell 11-0 in the series finale at UC Santa Barbara.
UCR (20-15, 2-4) starter Tayler Misfeldt was unable to get out of the first inning allowing three runs in two and a third before giving way to Haley Marschall.
The Gauchos got on board early with a Jessica Johnston RBI single to center field. Alyssa Diaz then doubled to right field, plating two more runs to make it 3-0.
UCSB (22-19, 3-3) brought four more runs across in the third, when Anessa Cepeda was called on to relieve Marschall. Melanie Manor capped the four-run inning with an RBI double down the right field line pushing the score to 7-0. The Gauchos plated four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead 11-0.
UCSB's Veronika Gulvin scattered four hits and walked none over her five innings pitched. It was her second win of the weekend over the Highlanders. Misfeldt dropped to 8-4 on the year.
The UC Riverside Softball Team travels to Hawai'i next weekend for a three game set. The series begins on Friday at 9PM PST.
