Riverside—The UC Riverside Athletics Department held its annual end-of-year Scotty Awards on Thursday evening, and Highlander Girls Team Captain Brittney Murray won the Highlanders Spirit Award.

The Highlanders Spirit Award is presented annually to a member of the UC Riverside Spirit Squad who has demonstrated leadership, commitment, and a high level of skill, while representing the university and the athletics department with pride and distinction.

From Spirit Squad Advisor Radiance Jackson: "Brittney embodies what Highlanders spirit is all about. She is a great leader, role model and performer. I am excited that this year, the award for the first time, ever, went to a member of the Highlander Girls Dance Team."
