Riverside, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team (1-2) fell, 5-2, to Long Beach State (1-0) in its Big West Conference opener at the SRC Tennis Courts Friday.
The Highlanders won the doubles point after prevailing 6-4 on court 2, and 7-6 on court 3. In singles play, Sara Khattab was the sole victor for the Highlanders, coming through with an outstanding second and third sets, winning 1-6, 6-3, 7-6.
Friday's match marks the most points the Highlanders have taken against Beach in their history of dual matches. The only other match UC Riverside has scored points against Long Beach State was on February 17, 2012 when the Highlanders fell 6-1

"Overall, the team played well and had great effort throughout the match," said Coach Mark Henry.
