Riverside, CA—Highlanders Sara Khattab and Nabil Abdallah set a new record for UC Riverside Tennis, Wednesday. UC Riverside swept Women's and Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors for the first time since the Big West began offering the award in 2002. 

Sophomore Sara Khattab (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA/ Peninsula HS) earned the first Big West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor for UC Riverside in nearly six years, excelling in singles and doubles.

Khattab is the first Highlander to achieve weekly honors since Kat Saltarelli on March 21, 2012. Sara was victorious in two of her three singles matches and undefeated in doubles (3-0).

Her most outstanding victory came in the Big West opener against Long Beach State. Khattab won the lone singles match for UC Riverside, charting 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5) against Lalita Devarakonda at the No. 3  position. She also helped the Highlanders win the doubles point, winning 6-4 at No. 2 with partner Tia Elpusan.

Khattab also won her match at No. 2 singles against Jessica Cornea (6-1, 6-2) in UC Riverside's 7-0 victory over Hope International.
