Riverside, CA—Highlanders Nabil Abdallah and Sara Khattab set a new record for UC Riverside Tennis, Wednesday. UC Riverside swept Men's and Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors for the first time since the Big West began offering the award in 2002. 

Sophomore Nabil Abdallah (Hamburg, Germany/Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule Kairo) won his first career Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week award after posting a perfect 4-0 record in singles and doubles against Westmont and UC San Diego.

Abdallah helped the Highlanders to a 7-0 victory over Westmont — No. 13 ranked in NAIA — earning a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles over Miles Hale. He and partner Anderson Ju also logged a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles. 

Success continued against No. 15 (D. II) UC San Diego as Abdallah notched a 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6-1) win over Eskil Jarlskog, despite a narrow 4-3 loss for the Highlanders. Ju and Abdallah eked out a close 7-6 (7-5) victory over the Triton pairing at No. 3 doubles. 

Abdallah is undefeated in singles at the No. 4 position (5-0) and has won all but one match in doubles at the No. 3 position (4-1) for the 2018 season.
