RIVERSIDE, Calif.— The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team earned its second straight win at home Wednesday night as the Highlanders bested Life Pacific 87-50. UCR enjoyed its best scoring performance against the Warriors and saw its largest margin of victory.
The Highlanders jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game and never forfeited their lead on the way to a 42-point first half. The team forced eight Warriors turnovers in the first 20 minutes and capitalized on each mistake scoring 11. UCR would head to the locker room up 46-26.
The 2nd half was all Highlanders as well with UCR outscoring Life Pacific 45-24 behind a 51.9% shooting performance that included an 8-for-16 mark from behind the arc. UC Riverside would finish the night at 51.8% from the field, 45.2% from three, and 93.8% from the free throw line knocking down 15-of-16 from the stripe.
UCR's largest lead came with just under five minutes to go where the team went up by 37, before ending the game 87-50.
Six different Highlanders found double figures Wednesday night led by sophomore Ajani Kennedy who scored 13 and added six rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Freshman Callum McRae and sophomore Dominick Pickett each added 11 with McRae collecting seven boards and Pickett dishing out a team-high six assists. Sophomore Dikymbe Martin and freshmen DJ McDonald and Zac Watson rounded out the efforts with 10 a piece.
The Highlanders will look to build on their biggest win of the year this Saturday as the team hosts Loyola Marymount at 2 PM.
