Irvine, CA – Despite 20 points apiece from seniors Michelle Curry and Lauren Holt, the UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team (7-18, 4-7) was defeated by UC Irvine (16-8, 8-2) by a final score of 76-63 early Saturday afternoon.

After beginning the final period trailing by 3 points, the Highlanders would tie things up, 52-52, at the 7:14 mark, courtesy of five straight points from Holt.
The Anteaters would embark on an 18-6 run midway through the fourth, taking their largest lead of the game, 73-59, with 1:40 remaining.
GAME NOTES
Both Curry (9-19 FG) and Holt (8-15 FG) scored 20 points in a game for the second time this season, combining to shoot 50 percent from the field, compared to 28 percent (7-25 FG) for the rest of the team. They also matched each other for a game-high in assists (5), and finished as UCR's leading rebounders, with Curry nabbing 7 and Holt bringing in 6.
Holt extends double-digit scoring streak to 18 games. It was her seventh 20-point game of year, and the fifth in her last eight outings.
Redshirt sophomore Skyler Lewis reached double-figures for the second straight game (10 points), setting a new career-high in free throws by going 6-of-8 (.750) from the line. Lewis also added 5 rebounds and a block.
The Highlanders will return home next Thursday, February 15 when they face CSUN on County/Chamber Night.
