Las Vegas, NV—The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team (2-4) dropped a 4-2 decision at UNLV (2-2) Friday afternoon.
UCR 2, UNLV 4
The Highlanders secured the doubles point, winning the first and third matches. Partners Anderson Ju and Nabil Abdallah have won five doubles matches on the season.
In singles play, UNLV swept all but one matchup. Nabil Abdallah remains undefeated (6-0) in singles for the 2017-18 season, defeating opponent Jordan Sauer 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 5 position.
"Getting off to a great start versus a great team and winning the doubles point for the first time versus UNLV was big. Nabil continues to show the guys how it is done. Some other guys need to do something different in order to help out the team. The good news is that we have a deep team, and I will find someone to secure more points for us. UNLV is a great team and a 4-2 loss is the closest we have ever been, so we will just keep working because we are on the right track." said Coach Mattias Johansson.
