Ramelot Hits 2nd Walk-Off; Softball Splits Doubleheader with St. John's

Riverside, Calif. — The UC Riverside Softball Team (11-6) split a doubleheader with visiting St. John's (3-10) Tuesday afternoon as the Highlanders defeated the Red Storm in first game 2-1, on another Emma Ramelot walk-off, but fell in the second game 7-2.

GAME ONE
The first matchup against the Red Storm was another outing for senior pitcher Tayler Misfeldt (8-2) who picked up her 8th win of the season as she only allowed one earned run and six hitsa, while striking out three. She now has 45 career wins, extending her all-time record.

UCR trailed the entire game after St. John's hit a homerun in the top of the 2nd inning, but a spark in the bottom of the 7th inning would put the Highlanders in a position to win it all.

Senior Rebecca Faulkner was first to the plate in the final inning and wasted no time, smacking a double to left-center. Freshman Bayleigh Heineman would come in to run for Faulkner and would advance to 3rd on a single by senior catcher Chelsey Holley. With the tying run just 60 feet away, freshman Seanna Garewal hit a sacrifice fly to center field that was deep enough for Heinamen to tag and score icing the game at 1-1. Senior Jenna Curtan was next to the plate ripping a single that moved Holley to 3rd base and brought sophomore Emma Ramelot to the plate, who hit a walk-off double for the Highlanders just three days prior. The UCR shortstop would prove clutch again as she hit an infield single on the second pitch she saw to bring in the game-winning run.

GAME TWO
The Highlanders got off to another slow start in the second game of the double header as they fell behind 6-0 in the top of the 2nd.

UCR would get on the board in the bottom of the 4th as senior Jenae Lockwood reached on an error that scored Ramelot from 2nd base and advanced sophomore Sarah Parten to 3rd. The Highlanders would cut the lead to 6-2 on a deep sac fly from Faulkner that allowed Parten to tag from 3rd.

The Red Storm would add another run in the top of the 7th inning to take the game 7-2.
