Riverside, Calif. – The UC Riverside Men's Tennis team (9-10) took nearly every set of its Monday doubleheader, defeating Bucknell (2-11) 6-1 and Concordia Irvine (5-5) 7-0.
The Highlanders have now won five straight matches for the first time since 2007, when they won six straight for the program's longest win streak in its Division I era.
BUCKNELL (results)
The Highlanders dropped the doubles competition to begin its match against Bucknell, but would take every point the rest of the day.
Sophomore
Nabil Abdallah provided the clincher on court 4, defeating Colin Sacco in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
Junior
Kyle McCann (6-3, 6-2) and freshmen Benjamin Kichherr (6-2, 7-5) and
Vignesh Subramanyan (6-3, 6-0) also took straight set wins.
Freshman
Pawel Jankowiak topped Adrien Crastes 6-7, 7-6, 10-7 on court 1, and sophomore
Gilbert Chung cleaned things up with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 win over Ben Gerber on court 5.
CONCORDIA IRVINE (results)
UC Riverside had a nearly perfect match against Concordia Irvine later in the day, dropping just one doubles match in a 7-0 victory.
McCann and freshman
Filip Engstrom got things started with a 6-0 doubles win on court 2. Junior
Anderson Ju and Abdallah would seal the doubles point with a 6-4 win shortly after.
The Highlanders took straight set singles wins on all six courts. Concordia Irvine won three or less games in all but one set.

When Charleston College visits on Sunday, March 10, the Highlanders will be closing out an eight-match home stand looking for their second six-match win streak since 2001.
