Women's Golf Takes 8th at Fresno State Classic

FRESNO, Calif. – The UC Riverside Women's Golf team took 8th-place in the Fresno State Classic at Copper River Country Club on Tuesday, finishing 42 strokes over par. The Highlanders were led by juniors Jakeishya Le and Hana Furuichi and freshman Serena Chon, who were all a +11, tying for 22nd overall.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
The Highlanders got out to a fast start, finishing Round 1 with a score of 298. It was their best round of the tournament, placing them in third-place through 18 holes. UC Riverside would put up a similar score in Round 2 (300).
This marks the second time this season that freshman Serena Chon has finished with the top score for UC Riverside. It is also her third top-25 finish this year.
UC Riverside finished with the most pars (182) out of the 11 teams in competition, but had the fewest birdies (20). The Highlanders were at their best on Par 5s, finishing one over par, the fourth-best in the field for the weekend. Chon (-3) led the way on Par 5s, followed by Le (-1) and senior Hannah Facchini (-1).
