Elpusan and Khattab Break Program Record with 15th Doubles Win in 9-0 Sweep of Chaminade

Box Score Honolulu, Hawaii.—The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team (5-16) earned its 5th win of the season Friday morning defeating Chaminade (0-8) 9-0.
The Highlanders were lead by freshman Tia Elpusan and Sarah Khattab who broke the single season doubles record for wins with their 15th victory as a doubles team.

In a nine-point style match, the Highlanders won all three doubles and all six singles matches in straight sets.

In the doubles round UCR only lost three games with as the team of Elpusan and Khattab took an 8-2 win on court one and the duo of Lauren Wolfe and Tamilla Vaksman added an 8-1 win on court two. Tracy Van and Natalie Penner provided an 8-0 sweep on three to give UCR a 3-0 lead.

The Highlanders were just as impressive in the singles round as they swept four courts 6-0, 6-0. Van, Wolfe, Khattab, and Karla Dulay all won 12 straight games to seal the match.

UC will be back on the courts tomorrow in a conference matchup with Hawaii at 2:00 PM.
