FULLERTON, Calif.— The UC Riverside Women's Volleyball Team fell in its final tournament matchup Saturday morning as the Highlanders fell 3-1 to San Francisco to end the Titan Tournament.
The Dons jumped out to an early lead taking the first set 25-19, but the Highlander would quickly respond in the 2nd winning the kills battle 18-8 to take the set 25-21 and ice the match.
Despite adding another 23 kills combined in the next two sets, USF would hang on to take both of them 25-17.
Freshman outside hitter Nailah Jones was a bright spot on the day for the Highlanders leading all attackers and matching a career high 15 kills, a record set just last week. Senior Kaiulani Ahuna added double digit kills as well with 14 and had a team-best 19 digs. Following the match, Ahuna was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Senior Chelsea Doyle was a true weapon over the weekend for UCR as the setter collected a match-best 41 assists in Today's matchup with the Dons giving her a total of 102 in the Titan Tournament.
The Highlanders will now open up Big West Conference play with a weekday matchup at Long Beach State this Tuesday at 7:00 PM at. The match at the Walter Pyramid will be covered on ESPN3.
