Women's Soccer Edged Out at Home

RIVERSIDE—The Highlander defense did all it could in Sunday night's matchup between the UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team and visiting Cal State Fullerton, but a single goal allowed would be the difference as the Titans took it 1-0.

Both teams would go scoreless in to the half, but the Titans would emerge eager to get on the scoreboard. They found themselves in close quarters firing off several shots and even hitting the cross bar, before Megan Day eventually found the back of the net in the 50th minute.

The Highlanders surrendered the single goal, which was an impressive defensive performance given all of the opportunities that the Titan offense had. In the end, CSUF would post 13 total shots, five of which were on goal, and 15 corner kicks. Senior keeper Annie Bailey collected five saves to hold the visitors to just one score.

UCR saw just one shot in each half, struggling to get the ball in its attacking third. Sophomore Natza Marin landed the sole shot on frame on the night.

UC Riverside will look for its first conference win next weekend when the team hosts Hawaii and UC Davis.
