10/25/2019 9:40:00 PM | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
FULLERTON, Calif. – The UC Riverside cross country teams finished up their regular season on Friday in Fullerton at the Titan Invitational. Riverside only sent four women to the meet to compete.
Â
The athletes that did compete showed that their hard work throughout the season is paying off. The four Highlanders that competed in the invite were freshmen Lizette Castro, Victoria Ervin, Gabby Rivera and sophomore Harriet Bush.
Â
Assistant Coach Rob Hansen spoke about the invite and how the athletes competed, "We brought a small group to Fullerton to gain some more experience. The conditions this afternoon was less than ideal, with temperatures near triple digits. Despite the adversity, the ladies had some success."
Â
Castro was the highest finishing Highlander as she finished 16th overall with a time of 19:18.91 in the women's 5k. Bush and Ervin finished consecutively at 27 and 28 with times of 20:02.08 and 20:03.07.
Â
"Lizette closed strong as our top lady in only her second collegiate cross country race as a Highlander, "Hansen said.
Â
The Highlanders will be hosting their third meet of the season but this last one is the biggest of them all, the Big West Championships. The meet will be Saturday, November 2 at the Ag/Ops course in Riverside.
