Highlanders Drop Match at Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The UC Riverside Women's volleyball was unable to find a rhythm at Cal Poly on Friday as they dropped three sets to the Mustangs. The Highlanders fell to 1-2 in Big West play and 5-9 on the season.

Junior Morgan Kline led the team with 13 assists and she also contributed with six digs, sophomore Renata Bath also had six digs.

The Mustangs were able to control each set to take the match as the Highlanders weren't able to collect consecutive clean plays. UCR committed a game-high 22 errors while Cal Poly only committed 11 in the match.

Freshman Osuji Amarachi and Kimbrough Ayanna led the team with four kills apiece while Kimbrough also played strong defense with three individual blocks. UCR had more blocks than Cal Poly in the match as they were able to block five kill attempts to the Mustangs four blocks.

The team will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Santa Barbara to face the Gauchos on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
