Women’s Volleyball Falls to Long Beach State, 3-0

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The UC Riverside women's volleyball team dropped their match against Long Beach State, 3-0, on Friday night. The 49ers take the season series with the victory, the loss drops UCR to 5-16 and 1-9 in the Big West.
 
Freshman Amarachi Osuji led the Highlanders in the first set as she compiled three kills. The team fell behind early and eventually down 16-9 before making pushing back to make it 22-17 but were unable to finish the comeback dropping the set 25-18.
 
Fellow freshman Ashley Dittman gave Riverside some fire power in the second set as she led the charge with 6 kills in the set. Although Dittman was striking the ball well, it wasn't enough as the Highlanders fell 25-18.
 
The Highlanders weren't able to get a rhythm going in the third, and final, set and were bested, 25-16.
 
Dittman led the team with eight kills in the match. It is the fourth time this season that she has led the team in kills, her most in a match since September 20 against Penn.
 
Defensively, UCR was led by sophomore Renata Bath who had her second-best dig total of the season with 14. It is back-to-back games with 12 or more digs for Bath.
 
Dittman will look to right the ship in their match against CSUN tomorrow, November 2. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m.
