Highlanders Upended At #24 Arizona

TUSCON--As the UC Riverside Women's Basketball team continued through its most rigorous non-conference schedule in recent history, they were defeated, 70-27, by #24 Arizona on Friday. 

Jannon Otto led the team with nine points and seven rebounds in 32 minutes of play. Marina Ewodo also collected seven caroms to go with her four points. 

Turnovers plagued the Highlanders in the loss, as they had a season-high 29 miscues against the Wildcats.

Early on, the Highlanders led 6-5, but turnovers led to an extended scoring drought that put them in a, 36-12, hole at the break.

Although, the game was no longer in doubt after a tough third period for UCR, the team fought back playing the fourth quarter within a point, 14-13. They also outrebounded the hosts, 34-31, and shot eight-of-nine at the free-throw line, 88.9 percent.

UC Riverside concludes the two-game road with a Sunday matchup with Colorado State slated for 11am PT.Â
