RIVERSIDE—The UC Riverside women's volleyball team (6-17, 2-10 Big West) remains at home this weekend, as they take conference leading No. 19 Hawaii. The Highlanders will be searching for their third win of conference after finding their feet in a long-awaited victory against UC Irvine on Tuesday night. Following Sunday night's match up against Hawaii the Highlanders will have 4 games yet to play, including a Crosstown Showdown with Cal Baptist on November 20th.
With the win against UCI on Tuesday night (the first matchup between the teams this season) the Highlanders sit in 8th place in the conference. Freshman Amarachi Osuji has seemed to find her stride, as she has a .212 hitting percentage to go along with a 12th ranked standing in the conference for kills. Kat Lowry, Morgan Kline, and Tara Eaton have also continued to display strong outings both offensively and defensively. Furthermore, as a team the Highlanders continue to display their tenacity as their currently rank 5th in the conference in Digs.
Scouting the Rainbow Wahine
The Rainbow Wahine (20-3, 10-2 Big West) are currently ranked #11 in the nation according to the NCAA RPI report. Since rejoining the Big West in 2012, the Rainbow Wahine have either won or been runner-up for the conference championship each year and have appeared in the NCAA tournament every year since rejoining as well.
Currently the Rainbow Wahine are among the top three conference teams in every statistical category. Senior Norene Iosia is 2nd in the conference for Service Aces/Set, while Freshman Amber Igiede leads the conference in Blocks/Set. Junior Skyler Williams continues to lead the conference in hitting percentage by a wide margin (.401) and the next best player has an average of .367.

Since joining the Big West Conference again in 2012, the Highlanders have yet to post a win at home or on the road against Hawaii. Nonetheless, the Highlanders are coming off of a fantastic win on Tuesday night, and will look to maintain that momentum in this match against Hawaii. The match will be held on Sunday November 10th, at 2p.m, and 12p.m Hawaii time.
