LAS VEGAS, Nev.— The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team closed out the weekend of competition in Las Vegas, Sunday afternoon, falling 4-0 to New Mexico State.
The Aggies jumped out to a 1-0 lead taking the doubles point, but the duo of junior Sara Khattab and sophomore Tia Elpusan managed to retain its perfect record going unfinished at court one.
NMSU would take its momentum from doubles into the single round taking wins on courts one, five, and six to end the match 4-0, but each Highlander showed fight in their singles matchups.Â
Frehsman Lindsey Gelinas collected seven games in her loss on one and Khattab grabbed another five on court six.
Both Elpusan and freshman Mahli Silpachai won their first sets on courts two and three, respectively, and held leads for themselves, but unfortunately would go unfinished.
UC Riverside will look to bounce back at home this Saturday as the team hosts Big West Conference foe UC Irvine.
