RIVERSIDE, Calif.—The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team topped Illinois State 5-2 Wednesday afternoon in what would become a come from behind victory for the Highlanders.

"It was very nice to get the win today, especially after losing the doubles point," Head Coach Mark Henry said. "The team has been staying with matches and fighting back all season and they showed it today."

After dropping the doubles point, UCR got going quickly in singles as freshman Mahli Silpachai and Hanh collected straight set wins on courts three and six, respectively.

The Cardinals responded taking court six, but another freshman in Natalie Shamma put her team in a position to win taking court four. It would be sophomore Tia Elpusan who would close out the match with a three set win on court two and freshman Lindsey Gelinas finished with a comeback win on one to take the overall match 5-2.
