Baseball Loses Series Finale vs. Tulane

NEW ORLEANS--The UC Riverside Baseball team was unable to come away with a series win on Sunday vs. Tulane after splitting a doubleheader on Saturday.

Beating the Green Wave 10-1 in the second game of the doubleheader, the Highlanders (7-13) couldn't duplicate that same offensive production, losing 10-0.

Kept off balance by Tulane starter Chase Solesky, UCR managed three hits over seven innings against him and finished the day with a total of four hits.

After Dean Miller got the team's first hit in the fifth inning, the Highlanders put the most pressure on Tulane's pitching in the eighth inning when Miller walked to begin the inning and Nick Kafer singled with two outs. That put runners on the corners, but Skyler De Los Reyes struck out to end the threat.

Tulane got to starter Jeremiah Priddy early. He allowed a two-run triple to Collin Burns in the second inning and then a two run home run to Frankie Neimann with one out in the third inning.

The right-hander has overpowered opponents to begin the season, striking out five or more batters three times this season. However, Priddy finished the day allowing six runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings for the loss. He is now 0-3 on the season with a 6.31 ERA.

The relievers didn't have much luck stopping the Tulane offense either, with a trio of relievers combining to allow four runs (three earned) on five hits. Devin Mckesson had the most success, allowing just one hit in one inning of work.

The Highlanders will have over a week before their next game, traveling to Las Vegas to face UNLV in a two-game series from March 26-27.
