Women's Tennis Falls in Final Regular Season Matchup

FULLERTON, Calif.—The regular season came to a close Saturday afternoon for the UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team, which fell 7-0 to host Cal State Fullerton. The sole win on the day came at court three doubles where the team of freshman Natalie Shamma and senior Tracy Van took a 6-4 victory over Eira Tobrand and Luxizi Meng.

Although the regular season has come to a close, year is not over yet as the Highlanders will head to the Big West Championships as the No. 9 seed. Last year, UCR took its first tourney victory in 10 years downing the No. 8 seeded UC Irvine Anteaters, and it appears that the two teams will face off in the first round yet again this season.

The Highlanders currently stand with six wins on the year, which matches the total from last year and is tied for the second most all time in program history. A win at Indian Wells could make this the most successful season since the 2008-09 season where UCR totaled nine wins, including a first round victory over Cal State Fullerton.
