INDIAN WELLS, Calif.—For the second straight year the ninth-seeded UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team took on eight-seeded UC Irvine and for the second straight year the Highlanders rose to the occasion pulling off the upset to move on to the quarter-finals with top-seeded UC Santa Barbara. Behind a strong doubles round, and clutch singles performances, UCR punched its ticket to the next round with a 4-3 walk-off win over the Anteaters.
With the match tied at 3-3, it all came down to court five where junior Sara Khattab fought all the way back from a first set loss to take the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-0.
The Highlanders will face the Gauchos Friday morning at 8:30 AM.
