Softball Falls in Final Home Game

RIVERSIDE, Calif.- The final home game of the season will be one to remember, as despite a loss on the field, the UC Riverside Softball Team saw its five seniors take Amy S. Harrison Field one last time. In the end, Cal State Fullerton would take the game 7-2.

The regular season has come to an end for the Highlanders, but the team remains hopeful for a shot at the postseason.

The game remained scoreless through two thanks to solid pitching by junior Melanie Olmos, who allowed just one hit in her two innings of work.

The Titan bats got going in the third where the team would find its first four runs of the game before adding three more in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead.

By no surprise at all, this Highlander team showed its resiliency once more in the 2019 season putting up two runs in thew final inning. Senior Hannah Rodriguez earned a walk with two on to load the bases and fellow senior Brittney Garcia earned her final RBI at Amy S. Harrison Field drawing a five-pitch walk of her own. Olmos would follow with a fielder's choice to score junior Emma Ramelot and make it 7-2.

Garcia and senior Amanda Lynch led the way going a combined 4-for-6 in their senior day game.
