2019 Season Comes to a Close for Softball
5/17/2019 10:53:00 AM | Softball
RENO, Nev.—The 2019 season has come to a close for the UC Riverside Softball Team as the Highlanders were bested 10-0 by LMU on the second day of the NISC Regional at Nevada. UCR held its own through the early parts of the game, but unfortunately a big fourth inning for the Lions would seal the Highlanders' fate.
Junior Melanie Olmos earned the start and pitched brilliantly as after allowing a home run on the first pitch, really settled in and retired the next five batters. She would finish with 3.0 IP, 1 ER, and strikeout.
The Highlanders could not take their momentum from yesterday's offensive showcase into today's elimination game failing to score and only collecting three hits. Despite the low numbers, the team did threaten to score early on, but could not find home plate.
Seniors Amanda Lynch and Hannah Rodriguez both collected a hit in their final NCAA game.
