UCR Alum Jennifer Bermingham Elected to Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Former UC Riverside Women's Golf star, Jennifer Bermingham, was elected to the Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame. The former standout played for the Highlanders from 2005 through the 2009 season.

Bermingham was born in Long Beach and attended Millikan High School. After a successful high school career, Bermingham went on to win the Big West Freshman of the Year in 2005. In her career at UCR, Bermingham was named to the Big West All-Conference team each year and earned First Team All-Conference three times. She won six individual events during her tenure with the program, as well as the 2008 California Women's Championship and the 2009 Long Beach Women's City Championship as an amateur.

"I met Jennifer during her college years when she was setting records for tournament wins as a Highlander. I was deeply impressed by her magnetism and passion for the game then. She has continued to spread her love for golf as an award-winning golf professional and we couldn't be more proud that she was inducted into the Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame," Head Coach Mary Ritchie said.

Bermingham's success continued after her time at UCR, but on the other side of the sport as a coach. She earned her Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Class A and Professional Golf Association (PGA) of America Class A teaching status. She was a popular and successful instructor at Skylinks Golf Course for eight years and created the local LPGA-USGA (United States Golf Association) Girls Golf of Long Beach chapter in 2013. Opening this chapter in Long Beach, allowed her to introduce golf to over 100 local girls while receiving several awards for the program.

Coach Ritchie appreciates Bermingham's continued dedication to the Highlander family, "Jennifer has been really involved with the team. Always coming back to support her team when we compete and when we kick off or close out our season. She means a great deal to us."

Bermingham was able to qualify and make the cut in the KPMG Ladies PGA as well as serving on multiple LPGA, USGA and PGA committees. The UCR alum was selected as a presenter for the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida.

Bermingham talked about how much it means to her, on her Facebook post, to be selected into the Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame, "It was a dream come true to say that I'm a Long Beach Golf Hall of Famer! From the bottom of my heart, I'm so thankful that I'm from Long Beach, California and to all my friends and family that were there in person and in spirit."
