Cross Country Unable to Overcome Tough Weather

MINNEAPOLIS – After traveling to the Midwest to compete in the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota, the UC Riverside Cross Country teams ran into some inclement weather. The Highlanders faced some rain and muddy conditions which was the complete opposite of their home meet two weeks ago.

Led again by senior Arman Irani on the men's side. The senior ran for a time of 25.42.6 in the Men's Gold 8k which was good for 34th place. It was the third straight meet in which Irani has led the team.

Assistant Coach Rob Hansen talked about Irani's performance, "Arman competed really hard  today.  This course is really challenging and he came in prepared to battle."

Unfortunately, the team wasn't able to group together as they finished 13th out of 14 teams. The women's team also had a tough time gaining traction as the finished 16th out of 16 teams.

The Highlanders make their way back to their home course as they will be hosting the Highlander Invitational on Saturday, October 19. It will be their last regular season home meet until they host the Big West Championships.
